What are the differences among individual, marital (couples), family, and group therapy? |
| Print |
|
- Individual therapy is a form of treatment involving
one client focusing on the mental, emotional and relational concerns
presented by the client.
- Couples therapy is a treatment
offered to couples to address relational difficulties and facilitate
the process of healing and problem solving.
- Family therapy is
a form of therapy to treat the family rather than the individual. The
entire family is brought together to change the unhealthy family
patterns and interactions.
- Group therapy is a type of therapy
usually involving at least four non-related individuals who are similar
in some area, such as gender, age, mental health, or presenting
difficulty.
