Johanne Smith is a graduate student pursuing her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Alliance University (New York).  She loves people and holds relationships in high regard. She enjoys helping others discover their strengths, become more self-aware, and find the right tools needed for healing and transformation. Her current areas of interest in the field of counseling include working with adolescents and teens navigating the challenges of depression, anxiety, and relational concerns. Furthermore, she is passionate about  working with women and families in crisis and survivors of sexual trauma.

Prior to pursuing her master’s degree, Johanne earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Nyack College (now Alliance University) in 2014. Additionally, she received a technical associate degree in Stenography from New York Career Institute in 2004, and she has over two decades of experience working in the courts of New York state as a court reporter (stenographer). She then decided to pursue her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling to change careers and follow her passion for helping others in their mental, emotional, and relationship journeys. 

Outside of work, Johanne loves to cycle, sing, and watch her favorite comedians perform. She lives with her husband and their six children in the state of New Jersey.
